Summer shifts into gear with return of West Fargo Cruise Night – InForum


Whether you roll or stroll, if you’re into cars you want to be on Sheyenne Street Thursday night for the first West Fargo Cruise Night of the season.

Classic roadsters to hot rods, jalopies, motorcycles and and more will be parked along Sheyenne from Main Avenue to Seventh Avenue, West, with the owners eager to talk about their cherished rides.

The fun runs from 5 to 9 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

The FM Kicks Band swings into summer with the first of its monthly concerts in Moorhead’s Gooseberry Park. The group is opening with a bang, bringing in guest vocalist Monroe Wright III for an evening of classic and contemporary jazz as well as bits of funk, rock, Latin and swing music.

Music starts at 7 p.m. and the show is free and open to the public.

Learn about and celebrate Black culture and history with Juneteenth events this week. The federal holiday marks the day in 1865 when enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, were informed they were freed — two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. Things kick off from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the bell tower at Concordia College, Moorhead, with speeches, spoken word performances, music, comedy and more.

From noon to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Broadway square will be full of Black pride as vendors and informational booths line the area. A block party starts at 3 p.m.with music and food. This event is free and open to the public.

The bicentennial of Norwegian immigration will be celebrated this fall, but some groups are getting a jump on the festivities. Norway is the featured country in this weekend’s annual Scandinavian Festival at the Hjemkomst Center in Moorhead, but all Nordic countries will be celebrated in food, music, dancing, art and storytelling.

The family fun runs from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday. Tickets range from $10.43 to $15.64.

Podcaster Theo Von brings his comedy act to the Fargodome Saturday.

Best known for his podcast, “This Past Weekend,” Theo Von steps away from the studio and onto the stage at the Fargodome Saturday for a night of stand-up comedy. Von got his start on MTV’s “Road Rules” in 2000 and moved to another reality show, “Last Comic Standing,” six years later, often joking about his low-income upbringing. He talks to fellow comedians on “This Past Weekend,” as well as newsmakers like President Donald Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance, most recently last week.

Tickets for Saturday night’s show range from $39 to $153.

Disney’s 1992 live action musical, “Newsies” was a bomb at the box office, but a 2012 stage adaptation proved to be a hit. The show, based on actual events, follows a gang of New York boys selling newspapers on the street in 1899 to get by. When newspaper publisher Joseph Pulitzer raises the price of papers for the Newsies to sell, they try to unionize.

Stage West produces the show at 7:30 p.m. Monday through June 26 and June 29 through July 2. at The Lights in West Fargo. Tickets range from $15 to $28.
