Margot Robbie shows her true colours in resurfaced State Of Origin video

When it comes to rugby league, don’t expect Margot Robbie to take too long to choose a side.

The Barbie star, 34, has appeared in a resurfaced clip that shows her donning a Queensland Maroons shirt at a State of Origin game in 2009 alongside her Neighbours co-star Ashleigh Brewer.

Margot, who was 18 at the time, filmed the segment as part of a Nivea campaign called ‘Margot’s World’, which followed the now-Hollywood actress as she attended the first game of the 2009 series.

Margot admitted on camera that while she was passionate about the sport, she was ‘frustrated’ that she was never given the opportunity to play at school.

‘I was never allowed to play rugby as an actual official team sport because they wouldn’t let girls play which is something that frustrated me,’ she said.

‘I begged and I begged our football coach but he said, “No, girls couldn’t play”.’

Despite the disappointment, the star still managed to find a way to embrace her sporty side on the field.

‘I did play touch football, and unofficially with friends we would always kick the footy.’

Margot, who was born in Dalby and raised on the Gold Coast, was pumped to cheer on her team from the sidelines.

‘We’re here tonight to watch the Queensland Maroons smash the NSW blues,’ she proclaimed.

Later on, she talked her fans through her outfit choice for the night out, which included her rugby shirt, 2000s-esque skinny jeans and a pair of brown ankle boots.

‘Jeans – pretty standard at the footy, comfy shoes a must have. I’ve got my jersey – Queensland supporter – and my Maroons hat. All set to go,’ she said excitedly.

Margot could be seen passionately screaming the iconic Queenslander chant as she entered the stadium for the big game.
